Sausage Burgers

serves 4

4 burger buns

1.5 lbs ground beef

1 lb. Patton Hot Sausage*

cilantro

grated cheddar cheese

Tony's

salt and pepper

non-stick cooking spray

*You can substitute any brand hot sausage as long as it is a compatible texture to the ground beef.

Spray grill with non-stick cooking spray since the sausage sticks more than a pure beef burger. Let the grill heat to between 450 and 500 degrees. Mix sausage and beef well. (For easy grilling cover a plate with aluminum foil when using raw meat. Discard and the plate is sanitary again.)

To portion well, I take large grabs from the meat mixture. This way you can make each burger the appropriate size. Below is a picture of these raw portions.  It is very important not to form patty more than once because the texture will change.
