About Executive Chef Sue Zemanick

Gautreau's is the kind of restaurant which would be described as a "timeless classic." It is located a few blocks off of St. Charles on Soniat Street, Uptown. The surrounding neighborhood is full of immaculate houses trying to be seen from behind the gorgeous trees that keep the neighborhood shaded throughout the hot New Orleans summers. Gautreau's is hidden among these Garden District houses just waiting to shine through. Entering through the large doors simply marked 1728 is like going back in time. Everything is formal, staff and patrons, but from the moment you walk in the door you are swept away by impeccable, yet comforting service.  The main dining room is full of huge mirrors which make the people-watching even better than it already is. The pace of dinner is slow, but not dragging. This is in part due to the vast choice of beverages available to enhance your dining experience. The back wall of the main dining room is covered, floor to ceiling, with dark wooden cabinets full of bottles of wine and a remarkable number of single malt scotches and single barrel bourbons.  The food is modern American. Simple, yet refined. See the menu below.
